Spirit Fest 2015 & ERay Promotions presented an amazing event filled with Award Winning Gospel Singers that set the Bonsecour Wellness Center on fiyyyyya. #WontHeDoIt
WRITING PRIVLEDGE & FULL ACCESS
Spirit Fest 2015 was an amazing event of love, preached word, renewal and a sense of purpose released within the atmosphere. One of my highlights of Spirit Fest – I was on the list. Okay it was a last minute email and they put me on the Vendor’s List, but it still gave me early entry into the jammed packed stadium with backstage access -well sort of-, which I am always thrilled to acquire. Access in life, business and at shows are amazingly life changing, especially when you get to meet all the amazing singers you have admired from afar.
GET A FEW MAGAZINE GIGS
The Magazine that I was initially attempted to represent therein didn’t work out well because the event coordinator said that they were all booked up with Press, and the Magazine wasn’t on the list, but I was relentless. Honestly, I need that event in my life, and I speak the things fourth that I want within my life and they become the things that I want.
Yes, I could have taken NO for an answer, but the way my faith is set up — that wasn’t an option because I was very intentional about what I wanted my 2015 to look like. Believing that I would get exactly what I wanted, I sent off my email, and sent everything that was required to make it all happen. As a result of my follow through without being anxious, I found myself backstage interviewing Tasha Cobbs, Israel New Breed, and a few others.
In fact I was told NO, we have no more space for press – as a Plus size chica bella, I immediately said I don’t take up much space – sure there is always a little more room for me.
As a result of being driven and persistent not only did I get into the #SpiritFest2015, but I was granted vendor table space in which I didn’t utilized because my purpose was to be in the midst of amazing moments and all that goes on backstage, hence, I thoroughly enjoyed exclusive #BackStagePassesAccess.
What does this have to do with Writing?
Writing is a journey and often you see no end in sight, especially if you have no plans, goals, and/or you have decided to believe that Artists i.e., Writers don’t make money – well I am here to inform you that we can, and we do make money with a real plan of action.
Perhaps you’re afraid of yourself too as I once was. Don’t give your power away, and STOP WRITING FOR FREE unless you’re getting some type of perks that can truly help you CELEBRITIZE your brand and business.
For those who DO NOT fully comprehend all of what Writers do, how we do it, and the process of it all – no worries, your WRITING needs no explanation simply Write Well to Sell and learn to leverage each experience.
Find the COURAGE to Write Your Own Story, and Ca$h In on It too.
My Writing life use to scare me because it was non-existence, especially when I was younger and would take for granted.
In the past, I would allow many amazing stories to go unwritten – words were twisted around verbs simply sitting within my head – only to never be put to bed – written out nor published.
The time to sleep on your WRITING DREAMS is OVER – TODAY!!! DwriteWELL is here to encourage you to live your best life by Re-writing the Story, so go ahead and flesh out all those unfinished stories, hence breathe life into them all.
We need some great stories to be told that ONLY you will write, so WRITE THEM NOW!!!
Guess what? My life is full of words either I am speaking them (often I spend a lot of time quietly observing the situation, and then I teach – honestly I don’t talk on the telephone unless it is about business), writing them, listening to others talk (those who make sense to my right now & future moments), especially as it relates to Writing My Own Check$.
GET REAL WITH YOUR WRITING
What do you want you Writing Life to look like? Do you even know what an amazing lifestyle you can create for yourself as a Writer, Self-Published Author, Writing Coach, and Digital Publisher?
Giving you a small glimpse of the inside of my email communication with the Promoters for Spirit Fest 2015, I refuse to take NO for an Answer. You see, I have this amazing one life to live (as do you, but are you truly living it or simply existing in it), and I refuse to allow the NO’s, or the NOT Now’s to deter me from #BecomingFully.
When you truly know who you are, what your path is and are no longer willing to CAST YOUR PEARLS AMONGST SWINE – you too will learn to live for moments I spoke of at the Gospel Concert.
In addition – whether an Artist, Writer, Professor, Speaker, or a highly skilled Janitor no matter what you want out of this life you have to become so focused that not much else matters -aside from family of course. Getting it in and daily finding new ways to be who you know you say you are – secretly – a Writer who is ready to see your Byline in newsstand Magazine.
Seeking wisdom of our elders and from other Writer, I was ALWAYS in awe of my big second cousin – whenever I would get up enough nerve to ask him a question about how badly I wanted to be published and Write for Newspapers, he would nonchalantly say “Just Write … Daphne if you’re a Writer then go ahead be a great Writer by simply Writing.” ~Awarding Winning Author Clinton Cox
BE BOLD WITH YOUR GIFT OF WRITING
Years ago, I was ashamed to tell folks (are you afraid to say who you are?), especially my family that I was a Writer since it was something I just did and not something I was because I had no bylines – aside from that one (1st published in my Junior High School/Middle School Annual Poetry Book) time back when I was thirteen.
When Mrs. Post (yes this was my English Composition Teachers real name) selected my Poems (several of them), I was elated to view my name as Byline was simply amazing, and I have been searching for that feeling forever.
Fast forward, I quit a great job with good hours at New York City Board of Education because I wanted more, and I was no longer willing to be mediocre when deep within my passion was to voice my opinion, write great stories, and make a living writing well.
For the sake of not making this any longer – my question to you is when will you START WHERE YOU ARE, and GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO BE GREAT as a Writer, and Visionary. Envision what you want your life to look like and make it happen NOW because YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE – well as far as we know, so make it grand. #YOLO
Don’t allow anyone family, frenemy and/or associates to whisper negative things about your future or who you are or could become, especially when your dreams scare them since they’re not living their own. STOP speaking to people about your dreams, hopes, vision for your life if they chose to just wing it, and hope for the best oppose to working and becoming the best at what they do. Be unafraid to be BOLD about the gift of writing it can make room for you and opening many doors.
REMEMBER you are the KEY to your SIGNIFICANT SUCCESS – nobody else, and yes there will be many who help you along the way and those who say YOU WILL NEVER BE A GREAT WRITER – run away from them, and leave them in their own misery, so it NEVER rubs off on you – then strategically use their words to fuel you to push out more amazing content, and purpose, so that you too can #WriteYourOWNChecks, and live the fairytale lifestyle we have read about, and seen in movies.
It is all Possible to life an amazing life as a Writer – famous, unknown or other that isn’t what’s important, but what matters is your happiness, so like me if Writing makes you happy DO MORE OF THAT, and write in a way they helps others along the way, so they can Become Who They Already Are too.
OWN YOUR WRITERSHIP
Step into your writing with confidence regardless if you are writing with or for someone. When did I truly get clear about my Writing, and comfortable with owning who I was as a Writer? My comfort came levels for being a Writer happened a decade ago when I started to be proud calling myself a Published Writer. Once I decided that working for others wasn’t my path, and Writing was no matter where I worked, I found time to write or jot things down.
Oh yeah DO NOT QUIT YOUR JOB – it may cause depression if while Writing you’re trying to figure out what’s next in your life. You will find yourself being more unproductive than when you were working.
Leverage your job for ideas, and to pay your rent. Transition out of working for others and begin seeking out some Freelance Writing Gig. Again, I love writing, but never loved being broke while on my journey to getting published, hence it’s no fun NOT to have money to do the simplest things in life, especially as they relate to enhancing your writing skills (taking an intense writing workshop), and building your writing business.
THE PULTIZER PRIZE
After having several conversations with my Big Cousin (I love that Clinton Cox was my 2nd Cousin, maternally speaking) who was nominated twice for the Pulitzer Prize, I was determined to do as he said. “Daphne you must become comfortable within your own skin as a woman, and a writer – then simply write.
MAKE IT ALL MATTER & COUNT
By all means commit to living by design by walking in your purpose and STOP hiding who you are even when it makes others intimated, distracted, and feeling some type of way. No longer wait until later to complete the story – finish strong now!
